How to Sleep at Night Part I

It seems that in this day and age, our lives have become so busy and so full that even the simple act of getting a good nights sleep is foreign to many of us. I have to admit, I sleep well at night, but not all the time. In fact, much of the time, I am restless, can’t settle down, can’t relax, and sometimes wake up through the night for no apparent reason. It turns out, I’m not alone.

It seams like sometimes in life, there just aren’t enough hours in the day. I know this has been true for me lately. I have gotten myself involved in more projects and “to do’s” than I feel like I can handle. Some of this is my own fault. I seem to offer help in areas that follow my passion. This means that I am now involved with a feature film project, a television project, and a short film project, along with a few other small parts in other films that are being filmed in my area.

Failure
Why is it so scary? Why does it paralyze so many of us from doing what is needed to achieve our dreams? And how can we move through the fear of failure in order to have what we want in life?
The mere mention of the word can stop most of us in our tracks and keep us from doing even the simplest of things toward what we want. Many of us will even act in self defeating ways in order to avoid failure. Inadvertently we set ourselves up for failure by trying to avoid it. Failure plays such a huge role in what we believe to be our social status, what people think of us and how people feel about us as a person. After all, who wants to be seen as a failure?

Breathe.
Now, try it again…Breathe.
Aaaaaaahhhhhhhh.
Sometimes I get so caught up in the business of daily life, working more than full time from home with three kids running around asking “why” about everything and focusing on business goals that I forget the most important goal of all, to feel good.
So I’d like to take a moment to remind all of my readers out there that there is one thing that most achievement gurus won’t suggest that you do, but you probably need to do it more often. Stop and smell the roses.

As I have been interacting with people, and blogs, these past days, I have heard so many people casually ask, “What is your New Years Resolution?” I have to say, I honestly don’t have just one answer. In fact, I have only one or two resolutions that actually fit what most people see as a standard New Years Resolution.

I’ve eaten more cookies than I care to admit this last week, and I’ve still kept my weight off. Have you finished any of your goals? I finished my challenges and failed at a few of them. Where are you?
1) Lose 20 lbs by Christmas Day
I did not actually lose the full 20 lbs. I lost 7 lbs on the scale. I’m down to my lowest weight of 178 lbs. and I feel great. I lost a belt size, and all my pants are looser, and on top of that, I have gained a significant amount of muscle. So I am not displeased with the results.
Challenge Yourself and Break Through Your “Limits”

Lately I’ve been reading up on goal setting and personal challenges, and I’ve realized that the most successful people consistently set challenges for themselves and the challenges are usually very short term. In fact many people find ways to do the seemingly impossible in very short periods of time simply by giving themselves a goal and finding a way to make it happen.
