You’re Dying!!!

Sunset over the Mountains and Lake - Personal Development Images

Sunset in Alaska

Too many people waste their time, their lives on fruitless and useless things and wonder what happened to their life when the end finally arrives.
-Ryan M Hall

From the moment you were born, you’ve been dying. This isn’t some pessimistic shock statement or a fatalistic viewpoint, it’s simply truth. Every moment you live on this earth, every breath you take, takes you one moment closer to the end of your chance to do what you came here to do and live the way you want to live.

We don’t have the luxury of knowing our expiration date on this earth, and no matter your religious beliefs or views on the afterlife, it is coming. You may not have the exact count of your days on earth, but you do have right now. That is all we can ever be certain of, we have right now. Can you know if you’ll be here tomorrow? Can I? Can any of us? We hope, we plan and we procrastinate, but we can’t be certain. So why is it that we are all walking about deferring our lives until some imaginary tomorrow?

Living For The Future

Why do we all live our lives for the future? We are all saying “Someday I’ll…” or “One Day I would like to…” But do we ever actually get around to most of these things?
No.
No we don’t, we wait, we hope, and we procrastinate, but we rarely live.

Life gets in the way. We go to work, relax in front of the TV and do it all again the next day. In the meantime, our lives are passing us by…we are dying slowly and we don’t even know what we’re missing.

When was the last time you wanted something, and really decided you would do whatever it took to get it? I mean something bigger than the Latte this morning. I mean when was the last time you decided you wanted something, then made a plan and committed everything you had to it?

If you haven’t spent time toward your goal today, then something is lacking.

Not Another Seize The Day Post!

Nope, I’ll spare you. This isn’t about seizing the day. It’s about lighting a fire under your butt so you will finally get up, and start living to your full potential. If you knew tomorrow would be the end, would you be happy with the way you’ve been spending your time?

Once you accept that you are dying each day you live, you will be more likely to stop wishing and hoping and start LIVING!

Always wanted to go kayaking? DO IT!
Always wanted to climb a mountain? DO IT!
Always wanted your own business? DO IT NOW!

If you feel like these are huge tasks, take 1 step toward them each of your goals right now. If your goal is to own a business, brainstorm what businesses you might be successful in, pick your top 3 favorites and decide on 1 thing you could do tomorrow to achieve this goal.

These things aren’t always going to happen today, but you can take steps, even small steps, toward the achievement of your dreams. Every step will take you light years farther than you ever were when you were just hoping it would happen.

Someone Else is Living Your Dream

If you don’t take action today, you might put it off until next week, or next month, or the New Year. When you do this, you are putting off your life for good. you will never live your dreams.

Think about this, there is someone, somewhere who is taking action toward their dreams, and they are doing it. They are living their dreams. They’re out there climbing mountains, kayaking, and enjoying their own businesses.

So, what makes them different?

They wake up every morning and own their day. They make a plan and take action instead of making excuses. Other than that, you and that person are no different.

You are Human, they are human.
You have 24 hours a day, and so do they.
You both have challenges in life, and you are both dying.

If you actually want to get what you want in life, you have to quit wasting your life waiting for a tomorrow that will never come.

You have only today, right now.
Pick a dream and live it.
Make a plan and live it.
Never ever give up, if you put off life until tomorrow, you’ll never have the life you want.

Get out there and get your dreams.

The Power of Letting Go Part II – A Follow up on The Sedona Method Test

For those of you who are just finding this, you can find part I of The Power of Letting Go Here.

In my initial test, my requirement was that I use the Sedona Method throughout my day and then just before going to sleep at night. These are my results.

I found that during the first week, I was consciously using the Sedona Method often. Using it in most situations, or often while I was working. Soon after the 5th or 6th day though, I found that I started forgetting most of the day and eventually settled into a rhythm where I used the releasing process at least 3 times in a day and once before bed. This was a conscious effort though, as I would often forget until I was either a) upset or b) thinking about my goals and what is holding me back.

I released on several of my goals as well as my general mood when I noticed it turning sour. I have to say this much is certain: Releasing definitely gives you a better feeling in the now and if you were to continually do it, you can, and I did experience this, move from a very upset/sad/down mood to a relaxed and ready mood. I can’t say that I always moved from down to up, but the Sedona Method helped me quickly reach a middle ground where I could direct my thought toward things I appreciated and/or things I am excited to work toward.

Whether or not the real world changes I’ve experienced this month can be attributed to the Sedona Method could be argued for ages. Some would say that because I released, I let go of resistance to these things coming into my life, and that’s why they are there. Some might say that because I let go, I attracted this into my life. Some might suggest that these things just happened and my releasing didn’t affect the outcome one way or another. And yet others might argue that releasing just changed my mood, and if it had no other effect, at least it made things easier/smoother/happier. Whatever the case, here is an update to the things I mentioned in Part I.

I wrote the script for my fat loss MP3 but have yet to record it, my focus has shifted elsewhere for a time and the project has been put on a very very temporary hold.

I got another Acting job for some commercials this time, totally out of the blue, and confirmed my job on another professional short film this summer, so things moved forward very well in that area of my life.

I still have yet to hire my Virtual Assistant, but have gotten a chance to do some research and I should be ready within the next 30-60 days.

Several of my New Years Resolutions have come very quickly. First, I am back with my gym and am ready to get back in and focus on weight training, instead of just the body weight exercises I do at home. Further, my goal was to start Karate and Arnis Lessons by June 5, and I have been at it 3 weeks now, and will soon be filming a DVD for the class.

We have had several people look at our house, but it has not sold yet. (maybe I need to do more releasing?) ;)

With that said, I have experienced many changes mentally recently. I have begun reading The Stoic Art of Living: Inner Resilience and Outer Results and am excited to explore Stoicism more deeply.

Further, I feel very focused, calm and ready to move forward to the next stage of my life. For this alone, I will continue releasing throughout my days and continue experimenting with the Sedona Method over the coming months. I hope that I can at least attribute a calmer, more centered, and happy attitude to this as I continue to utilize this powerful tool.

My results in nutshell – Things have been amazing the past few weeks, and while I can’t say they are necessarily completely attributable to The Sedona Method, I can say that it has helped me stay calmer, happier, and more focused, more ready each day.

Have you used the Sedona Method?
If you haven’t go to http://www.bloomverse.com/blog/ and get started, he has some amazing resources and an awesome free ebook.
If you have used it, do you use it actively? Can you pinpoint an instance where it has brought you measurable results either physically or emotionally?
And finally, Do you think that a method like the Sedona Method can make a difference in the physical results in life, and why?
Comment on these questions and your experiences, lets get the conversation going!

And Remember, Have Fun,

Inspiring Will Smith Video – No Wonder He is So Amazingly Successful!

Here is an absolutely amazing Will Smith Video cut together from a bunch of his interviews on TV and from a few movies. What he says about success and achieving your dreams is spot on. Don’t be afraid to go get what you want, just know your goal, and work your ass of to get it. Don’t let people discourage you, if you want it, take the attitude that it’s already done, and now you’re just working your ass off to get there and show everybody that you were right.

This is a great video to visit if you start feeling discouraged. Keep your head up and remember, it’s already done, you just gotta work your butt off to get there and show everybody.

And never be worried about “dying on the treadmill.” Don’t be afraid to commit 100% to your goal and run full out faster, harder and longer than the other guy. The work will pay off.

What’s your Secret?

The Power of Letting Go – A Sedona Method Test

The Sedona Method – What it is:

For those of you who don’t know what the Sedona Method is, it is a system designed for letting go of unwanted negative emotions. It asserts that deep down, we are all happy, vibrant people and that our natural state is one of joy and happiness. The problem si that all of that happiness becomes covered in layers of negative emotions and thougth patterns. So instead of experiencing our natural happiness on a consistnet basis, we feel the negative emotions most of the time. The Sedona Method offers a simple system to let go of all the negative emotions that you may be feeling and start experiencing life at a fuller, happier level more of the time. It can be used any where any time and with any negative emotion in any moment.

I know what you might be thinking, that won’t work for me, my problems are real, they’re different, they’re special.

While that may be true, the Sedona Method is so simple and flexible that you can address any problem, any emotion with it in the exact moment that you’re feeling it. So, no matter the emotion, you can let it go and feel better almost instantly.

The Sedona Method – What it’s Not

What the Sedona Method isn’t is another positive thinking or wishful thinking tool. This isn’t one of those, grin and bear it, paste a smiley face over your discomfort or fake it until you make it programs. Sometimes, you want to be angry.

Have you ever had someone remind you to think positively when you are pissed off? The minute they mention positive thougths, you think something like, I’m gonna take those positive thoughts and hit you with them!  How’s that for positive thinking?!?! When you’re angry, you can’t just jump to happy, it’s impossible, so thinking positively is just a way to pretend that you are happy, even if you just aren’t. The Sedona Method will help you strip away those negative feelings and get to the core of you that actually is happy in the moment.

The Sedona Method -Asserted Truths

Here are some truths that the Sedona Method operates from:

1. You are not your thoughts, feelings or limiting beliefs
2. You have the ability to let go of any thought or belief in any moment.
3. Beneath your limiting beliefs and negative thoughts and emotions, the core of you is happy, even if you think it isn’t.

Whether you think you can let go of your feelings or not, you can. The Sedona Method Shows you how.

The Sedona Method – My Personal Experience

I stay with using the Sedona Method for usually about 4-5 days and then I tend to slack off, this is my own unfocused nature I know. However, I have used it with great success in the past both in letting go of limiting beliefs and negative emotions.

I have used it to get past relationship hiccups, break ups and personal money beliefs. I have used it when conquering fears.

What I haven’t done however, is give it a full 3 week trial. During the trial I will let go of limiting beliefs as I notice them float into my consciousness and each day I will log at least once if my feelings have improved.

So, here is where I stand and how I feel today:

I feel good, I am getting a cold, but today was offered a film job (my biggest passion is film making) and confirmed another short film where I get to play the main character, step wildly outside my comfort zone and also serve as a location manager. That makes me feel extremely Amazing! I feel slightly unmotivated to move forward on a Fat Loss CD project I have been working on and am attempting to find a way to move forward or find another path with it. It is important to my new book launch, however, I feel stuck today.

I have written my new years goal list and one of them is very pressing. My businesses are requiring more time than I have, and I am ready to start hiring staff or freelancing work, but the cashflow has slumped due to some changes I made. I am working to find a way to start my staff or increase cashflow immediately so that I can continue with my grandiose plans.

I have been away from working out for some time, and I am ready to get back to the gym. Mind you I still work out at home, but there is some satisfaction in walking out of the gym sweating and feeling that fresh air.

My fiance and I are selling our house and trying to buy a new one…I fell very hopeful about this.

I feel very excited to get back to posting on the Secret To Your Life as it is a passion of mine.

Well, that was a mouthful and probably more than anyone really wanted to know, but I wanted to leave a baseline concerning my main thoughts and feelings in this moment so that I can revisit them and any results at the end of the test.

I will post results at the end of 3 weeks.

Now, my question for you, do you have experience with the Sedona Method? Have you used it in the past? What were your results?

11 Things You Should Do to Start The New Year Right

Fireworks #1
Image by Camera Slayer via Flickr

Here are 11 simple things you can do to get the new year started off with a bang. If you read this and come up with more, write them down, suggest them in the comments and by all means, do them yourself. 2010 has just begun, but it will be over before you know it, so why not make it your best year ever, and get it started the right way.

1. Clean House - Do you really need that old Tupperware? How many junk drawers do you have? clear them out and make them empty drawers, don’t fill them back up with more junk. If you have an empty drawer, let it be empty.

2. Follow a diet for 3 weeks – Even if you don’t struggle with your weight, follow a serious healthy eating plan for the next 3 weeks and then see how you feel. Chances are you’ll have more energy and be more productive and focused every day.

3. Follow an exercise plan for the next 3 weeks – Again, you may be fit or happy with your weight, but regular exercise can do more than just improve your looks, it can increase energy, mental functioning and increase overall happiness and contentment.

4. Write a list of all the goals you want to achieve this year – Create an action plan and post this where you will read it every day. Do just that. Read it every morning and night and stay focused.

5. Detox from Caffeine and other stimulants for at least 1 week – As many of you know, this is one of my favorite crutches. I love coffee, and I love to just sit and sip a cup at different times during the day. This is one of my greatest challenges, but I still detox for at least 7-10 days every year and see how I feel. Eventually I go back to drinking coffee because I love the taste.

6. Change Your Hair – You don’t have to opt for a new look if you don’t want to, but even getting a trim will give you the feeling of a new fresh start, and what better time to feel like a new you than the beginning of the new year.

7. Get rid of old clothes that you don’t wear – If you only wore them once last year, get rid of them.

8. Overcome One Fear – Last year I went in fresh water that I couldn’t see the bottom of. I am still terribly afraid of lakes and rivers, just the thought of being on a lake makes me sick to my stomach. I am a good swimmer, so this is just an irrational fear. I faced it by jumping into a pool in a stream. It was approximately 20 feet deep and scared me half to drowning. I breathed in more water than I should have, but I did it. Now I know I can. What fear will you face this year?

9. Go Somewhere New This Year - even if you just go somewhere new in your city, go there and enjoy the newness of it. If you have always dreamed of visiting France, make it happen this year .

10. Stop complaining for 21 days – This is a hard one. Keep a reminder and don’t complain, especially verbally about anything. If there is no action plan following the stating of a problem, then you are just whining. Quit being a baby and look for the good things in life, if you don’t like something, either accept it, or change it.

11. Start a Gratitude Experiment - For the Next 30 days, write down 3 things you are grateful for every night before bed. It may sound lame or silly, but the results will astound you.

These 11 things will help you get a fresh start and get focused for the new year. Some are simple and some are very very difficult (like no complaining) but following them and trying each one will break you out of old habits and get you started with new ones this year.

You will only live through 2010 once, why not make it your best year ever?

Happy New Year,

Ryan M Hall

These Guys are Pushing the limits…Are You?

Some people live life. They push the limits of what is possible and they push the limits of themselves. Allow me to introduce you to some of these guys.

The first is a quick video of Travis Pastrana, who will attempt a world record jump tonight, trying to jump his Subaru WRX rally car 200 feet onto a floating barge. Along with him are Robbie Maddison who set a world record in 2007, Rhys Millen, who set the record for doing a backflip in a truck, and Robbie Maddison again for jumping his motorcycle onto a building and then jumping it off of the building. These guys push the limits.

Here is another guy who pushes the limits. He has been featured around the world for his driving ability and attempted a jump in his car, eventually making 171 feet in the subaru.

Did you notice what Ken said in the video? He said, don’t think about it too much, when you over think things, you mess them up. Don’t get caught in the paralysis of analysis, just do what you’re going to do.

These guys are pushing the limits, are you pushing the limits of your life?

You don’t have to be a rally car driving adrenaline junkie to push the limits, but are you living to your full potential, or are you sitting back and watching life fly by while you talk about your big plans?

Don’t sit back and talk, commit to making your life great and do it, even if it’s just one little thing. You don’t have to jump your car to live your life more fully, just committing to your dreams and goals and doing them will suffice…the car jumping will come later ;)

Take a lesson from these people, they push the limits and live their life, are you going to do that in the coming year? Why not start right now?

Push the Limits

Strap Yourself to a Time Bomb to Get More Done

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Stopwatch2.
Image via Wikipedia

If you were sitting on a time bomb, could you finish every task in the time allotted?

Chances are, you could, or it would mean death. This concept can be used to your advantage, and you won’t have to strap yourself to dynamite in order to use it.

If you want to get more done in less time, you have to really put the pressure on yourself and give yourself the incentive to hurry up and get it done. Most people don’t do this with their day to day tasks and that’s often a large part of the reason that they become too time consuming.

Parkinson’s Law

Parkinson’s law states that a task, or any work you do will expand to take the time allotted to the task.

This can be seen in almost any area of your life. If you don’t have a deadline to get the vacuuming done, it may take 30 minutes, but if company will be here in 15, chances are it’s going to take less than 15 minutes to vacuum the house.

When you have a deadline, even for simple tasks like cleaning, your mind will bring more resources and work much harder to meet the deadline than if you just lazily do whatever it is you have to do.

The Importance of Deadlines

If you knew that everything you do today could be finished in half the time that it normally takes you with just 1 simple trick, would you at least want to know what the trick was?

Well, as you can probably guess, the trick is to set a deadline, not only for big projects, but for everything you have to do that you want to do effectively.

How to Effectively set a Deadline

Instead of setting vague deadlines like “I want to finish this by the end of the day,” give yourself a defined time limit. For instance, I want to write this article in 10 minutes, or “I want to vacuum the house in 15 minutes.” These defined deadlines make your mind, and body focus on the time limit and you will automatically work more effectively, discarding many of the useless things that might normally suck your attention away if you weren’t working against the clock.

Think of a mid term or paper that you had due in high school or college. If you’re like most of us, you waited until the last few days to finish the paper, sometimes finishing the night before or the morning of the deadline. When you stop to calculate it, the actual time spent on the paper will amount to hours, rather than days. This is because with the looming deadline, and possibility for failure, you brought your A Game and did everything you could to meet the deadline.

Apply Pressure

If you want to use this principal to your advantage, you should use a stop watch or timer on your desk or where ever you do your work in order to keep you consciously aware of the deadline the entire time. This will help you avoid voluntary distractions and work only on the task at hand.

Here is a handy website that can keep the pressure on you at all times and should become a part of your daily work routine. It’s called Egg Timer and it is an online stop watch designed for exactly this purpose.

You can find it here:

http://e.ggtimer.com

Start setting deadlines and use Egg Timer to track the time and you will see your productivity increase immediately.

Now go create your life,

Ryan

PS. Time Management is about more than just planning your tasks, you have to do them effectively too.

A Master and a Student are sitting on a hill in meditation the master holds up his hand to speak with one finger extended.

“The first rule of Zen is,” The Master begins, “You do not talk about Zen.”

“What’s the second rule?” Asks the student.

“The second rule of what?”
